Rosemary Padron's Obituary
Rose Mary "Honey" Delgadillo Padron
Aka "Mama P" 6/8/1929 - 2/2/2020
Rose Mary "Honey" Delgadillo Padron was born June 8th 1929 to Canuto Delgadillo & Sarah Lopez Delgadillo of West Oakland, California. Rose Mary was baptized on September 21st 1930 at the age of 15 months. She received her Holy Communion around the age of 9. On the day of her Communion her mother presented her with a beautiful Rosary which she cherished, protected and prayed with every night, until her death. She is presently holding that precious Rosary in her hands.
Rose Mary married Daniel Padron (born February 4th 1927) on July 3rd 1955. They were blessed with two sons; as she would state, Luis D. Padron (her professional son) and Malachi B. Padron (her famous son, dj on the radio).
"Honey" transitioned early Sunday morning February 2nd, 2020 on Malachi's birthday. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband Daniel (June 1989), three brothers; James Delgadillo, Raymond Delgadillo and Valente Delgadillo. And three sisters; Jennie Delgadillo Hernandez, Adeline Delgadillo Silva and Sarah Delgadillo.
Rose Mary became well known throughout Oakland and also became a bit of a social media darling via her son Malachi. Mama P had many fans, followers and has her hashtag #MamaP.
She often advertised for Malachi by doing short videos to family, friends and the public. She enjoyed listening to music and was a big sports fan of the local teams (A's, Warriors, Raiders). She loved dancing her entire life, and was a volunteer helping with and educating pre-school children. She took many long walks, was at church every Sunday (St. Leo's), loved her movies/popcorn after church, and always enjoyed her surroundings wherever she was.
On June 19th this past year, family and friends celebrated her 90th birthday with a party at Lake Temescal Park, where she viciously took swings at her pinata.
As the matriarch of five generations, Honey leaves behind one sister-in-law, Helen Delgadillo, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great-great nieces and many great-great-great nephews.
Honey is and will be dearly missed her family, friends and many of the community of Oakland, California and surrounding areas.
