Rose Rita Wara's Obituary
Rose Rita Wara nee Black died April 23, 2011 of complications of Parkinson's disease with family by her side. Born on a ranch near Hyer, New Mexico to the late Joseph T. Black and Teresita Cunningham Baca, Rose grew up in San Pedro, New Mexico. She later moved to Albuquerque and was a proud graduate of Albuquerque High School, Class of 1938. Rose was a veteran of World War II having attained the rating of Chief Specialist X in the United States Navy WAVES. Rose enjoyed a long career at the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired as a Senior Analyst after 32 years of service. The love of Rose's life was Frank Kenneth Wara, who she met in 1946. She married him and gave birth to their three daughters: Sandra, Teresita and Victoria, all of whom survive her. Besides her family, Rose enjoyed sports, especially volleyball and tennis, as well as ballroom dancing. Rose is survived by 3 daughters, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her two brothers, six sisters, many colleagues, and friends. Services will be held at Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Berkeley, California with a Rosary on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm and the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California. Arrangements through Chapel of the Chimes Oakland.
