Rose Ono's Obituary
Rose Ono June 9, 1916 – June 17, 2012 Resident of Oakland Rose Ono passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the age of 96 in Oakland. Rose Otaguro was born on June 9, 1916 in Portland, Oregon. After her marriage to Noboro Ono the couple moved to Berkeley, California. Their daughter Patricia Ono was born in Oakland in August 1939. When the Ono family returned to the Bay Area from internment at Topaz Relocation Center in Utah, Rose continued her career as a seamstress in the clothing industry. Following her retirement, Rose enjoyed painting, knitting, and sewing projects for her family and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Noboro Ono, brother Dewey Otaguro, sister Ann Otaguro Tamura, and daughter Patricia Ono Yokomizo. Rose is survived by her son-in-law Tomoyuki Yokomizo. Rose was a member of OBWA (Oakland Buddhist Women’s Association) and Momijikai (senior group) both organizations affiliated with the Buddhist Church of Oakland. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, June 28 at 4:00 PM at the Buddhist Church of Oakland, 825 Jackson Street, Oakland. Donations in Rose’s memory may be made to the Buddhist Church of Oakland.
