Colleen Rose Green's Obituary
On June 30, 2018, Colleen Rose Green passed peacefully in Hawaii, her earthly paradise, into eternal Paradise with our Heavenly Father.
Colleen was born on January 28, 1945, to Ferrall Melvin Pierce and Esther Ellanora (Quaschnick) Pierce in Richmond, Virginia. She was the second of Ferrall’s and Esther’s seven children.
Colleen grew up and attended schools in San Mateo, California, and later attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. While living in San Mateo, Colleen assisted her father, Dr. Pierce, in his dental practice, and she worked at Goodwill Industries. In 1969, Colleen met Gregory William Green (of Arcata, California), whom she married in August 1971. Colleen had three children—Blaine, Egan and Jessica—before moving to Hawaii in the early 1980s.
Colleen lived the second half of her life in Waipahu and Ewa Beach, western suburbs of Honolulu. While in Hawaii, she helped at a care home in Waipahu for the developmentally disabled. In her last decade, Colleen traveled back to the mainland many times to see her children, grandchildren, siblings and extended family, most recently for her sister Jeannine’s funeral in January of this year.
After being diagnosed with metastatic cancer in early 2017, Colleen met Jhanette and Junior Navarrete (of Ewa Beach), who welcomed her into their home and family as an angel. Jhanette and Junior took care of Colleen—with the Lord’s grace and blessing, and the everlasting appreciation of Colleen’s children and siblings—until she passed into eternal life.
Colleen joins her mother and father in Heaven, as well as her brother, Brent, and sisters, Carol and Jeannine. She is survived by her children, Blaine Green, Egan Green and Jessica Johnson, as well as her sister Bonnie Washington, and brothers, Leroy and Kurt Pierce. Colleen is also survived by six grandchildren: Sophia Green, Daphne Green, Philippa Green, Reese Johnson, Brady Johnson and Avery Johnson.
We will remember Colleen always for her beauty and smile; for her love as a mother, daughter and sister; and for her grace, even in the face of earthly life’s many challenges. Most of all, we will remember Colleen for her gentle and innocent spirit—extraordinary for lacking any trace of malice, anger, bitterness, envy or artifice. Colleen was our angel from God.
After family viewing, Colleen’s funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Chapel of the Chimes, located at 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California. Bishop Greg Call will preside. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery (adjacent to Chapel of the Chimes), located at 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California.
