Dr. Roscoe C. Simmons Ph.D. (Sonny)
Roscoe (Sonny) was born on November 25,1952 and passed from this life August 27, 2013. Roscoe was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Simmons Sr. is survived by his Son, Brandan Simmons, Mother, Mrs. Ethel Chatfield; Brothers, Robert Simmons, John Simmons, Gregory Simmons; Sisters Peggy Thornton and Betty Matthews all reside in Dayton Ohio. Additionally, a maintained a caring relationship of 33 years with Beverly Green, and a host of loving family and friends.
A humble and modest person, Roscoe had a love of the Divine and recognized the Divine in others. A true Renaissance man, Roscoe was a lifelong learner, educator and healer.
Roscoe served the community as a licensed therapist for more than 32 years. He was the first African American member of the Kaiser Permanente Oakland, California Child and Family Psychiatry team. Additionally, he served as an Adjunct Professor at the California School, and as a consultant to county and mental health service providers.
Roscoe will be deeply missed by his patients, friends and family.
