Ronald Pellum's Obituary
Ronald “Ronnie” Pellum, age 72 of Oakland, California passed away in the evening on the 23 of January, 2026 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland, CA.
Ronald was born September 26, 1953 in Stockton, CA. He was the son of Ruby Floyd (Brownlee) and John Lee Pellum. He was the brother to Stanley Gamble, Gwen Brown, Michael and Philip Floyd.
Ronald graduated from Polytechnic High School in Riverside, CA in 1972 serving as Black Student Union President that year. After graduation, he traveled north, settling in Oakland, CA in 1983.
Ronnie had many interests but, science fiction, photography and long distance cycling were some of his favorites. He also enjoyed playing chess, sports and working on projects.
In 1990, Ronald married Joyce Sealy-Jordan and was blessed with two children, Joshua and Khelsey.
Ronnie is survived by his son Joshua Pellum, wife Daphne and granddaughter Maeko; daughter Khelsey Pellum, and Joshua and Khelsey’s mother Joyce Sealy-Jordan. He is also survived by siblings Michael Floyd of Sacramento, CA; Philip Floyd of Redwood City, CA and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be remembered for his steadfastness and resilience in all he faced in life.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his sister Gwendolyn Brown of Sacramento, CA and brother Stanley Gamble of Port Townsend, WA.
