Roberto Resendiz's Obituary
Roberto Resendiz — musician, songwriter, filmmaker “Solitude,” and beloved husband, father, and grandfather — played his last show on April 30, 2026.
Born on June 7, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to Sedilia and Camilo Resendiz. The youngest amongst his brothers, Richard and David Resendiz, he was raised in Oakland, California, where he would build a life rooted in family, creativity, and community. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1970.
Roberto shared a deep and lifelong connection with music. A largely self-taught musician, he played several instruments, with piano and guitar as his favorites. His signature style was unmistakably his own—both in sound and presence—often marked by his cool style. Whether on stage or spontaneously at a piano, Roberto had a gift for bringing music to life in the moment.
On August 11, 1984, Roberto married the love of his life, Aida Resendiz, at Trinity Church in Oakland, California. Together they built a family filled with love, raising their three children: Lorenzo, Graciela, and Gabriel Resendiz. His devotion to Aida was enduring and profound, expressed not only in his life with her but also in his music. His original composition, “Song for Aida,” stands as a lasting tribute to that love.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Roberto dedicated 35 years of service to the Alameda County Social Services Agency in Jack London Square, where he made a meaningful impact before retiring.
Roberto leaves behind his loving children, Lorenzo Resendiz, Graciela Resendiz, and Gabriel Resendiz, and his cherished grandchildren: Alayiah Resendiz, Coco Resendiz, Camilo Resendiz, and Cruz Resendiz. He is reunited with his beloved wife, Aida, resting now in God’s loving care.
Roberto’s music, spirit, and legacy will live on through all who knew and loved him.
