Shirlie:I have tried to think of how to put into words what your's and Bob's friendship has meant to us and it is impossible. I recently came across this poem that I thought expressed a sentiment that comes close to what we feel without him. We will always remember Bob as a dear and most generous friend. Spent some very enjoyable days/evenings with Bob and Shirlie at their home where Bob was a consummate entertainer. He served terrific wine and champagne and told wonderful stories and jokes – some delightfully corny. We had some memorable trips to the wine country with Bob and Shirlie – one in particular with Claudia and Jim McHale where the fellas went their separate way and had quite a hilarious time and the royal treatment due to Bob's purchase. Bob had a passion for history and could have been a teacher of the subject. Will remember him also for his passion for opera and his delight in their little dog Rudy at the time who sang along. We consider Shirlie and Bob to be very dear friends. Bob's passing leaves a void in our hearts; we miss him so much. Shirlie is a very special friend and amazing person; we look forward to our continued relationship.

Our dear Bob – Lover of opera, fine wines, good food, entertaining, a good joke or story, and of course his wonderful wife Shirlie. I count among some of my favorite experiences an evening at the Burns, drinking Bob's special "cucumber" martini, eating great food, drinking fine wine, and sharing many laughs with dear friends. Unfortunately, those wonderful times are now just very special memories, with our wonderful Bob now gone. Bob was a voracious learner and embraced life with gusto, from his astounding wine collection and knowledge of the grape, to his love of history, opera and politics. He filled any room he was in, not only with his imposing presence, but with his generosity of spirit. Some people do not fade away with time, and Bob is one of those people. Our hearts go out to his family and his loving wife, Shirlie, who was at his side to the end. Bob died as he lived, with dignity. Goodbye and God bless you, Bob. You will never be forgotten.
