Robert Michael Anderson Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Michael Anderson Sr. passed away on February 8, 2015 in Berkeley California at the age of 78. He passed after a brief and brave fight with Lymphoma.
Bob was born in Berkeley California on March 9th, 1936 and lived much of his life in the Berkeley community. He was an English teacher, coach and administrator at St. Mary’s College High School in Berkeley for 30 years. He was also a Commander in the Naval Reserve, retiring after 20 years of service.
Bob was a generous, trusting and kind-hearted man who loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments. He was thoughtful and supportive to many students, athletes, colleagues, neighbors and friends throughout his life. He enjoyed sports – whether as a spectator, coach or player – but was happiest when watching his children and grandchildren compete. Bob also enjoyed fishing and spent many enjoyable hours with friends and family in pursuit of the big catch.
Among those who will greatly miss his warm heart and playful spirit are his three children: Robert Michael Anderson Jr., Michael John Anderson, Lynda Rose Anderson Domogalla; his daughter-in law Lena Sparks-Anderson and son-in-law David Domogalla; his 8 grandchildren: Aaron Anderson, Corvell Sparks, Ashley Taylor Anderson, Eli Anderson, Austin Anderson, Alec Domogalla, Bryan Domogalla and Colton Anderson; his 4 great grandchildren: Caden Anderson, Anaiah Anderson, Aria Anderson, Adonijah Anderson; his sister Alison Egleston and his nieces Erin Egleston and Katie Egleston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the St. Mary’s College High School Scholarship Fund in honor of Bob, a graduate of the class of 1954, an educator for 30 years and an active alumni supporter.
A reception will follow after the Memorial Service at Chapel of the Chimes
