Rita A. Johansen's Obituary
Rita A. Johansen March 15, 1928 – June 27, 2017. Resident of El Cerrito, CA, born in New Rochelle, New York, passed away peacefully in Lafayette, California on June 27, 2017. Rita was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Vern Johansen, her daughter, Rochelle Walkup and her parents Angelina and Canio Maffucci. Rita is survived by her sister Patti Fadelli (Andy) and brother Robert Maffucci (Marcia). She will be deeply missed by her nephews and nieces Scott Fadelli, Nina Fadelli, Steven Fadelli (Stacia), Bobby Maffucci (Kristy), Jill Maffucci, and a host of great nephews and nieces. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 6 at St. Jerome Church, El Cerrito, beginning at 4:00 pm. Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7 pm. Celebration of Life will be held at St. Jerome Church on Friday, July 7 at 11 am, followed by a private entombment at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Rita’s memory to: Oakland Children’s Hospital Branches (Acorn Branch). 5700 M.L.K. Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94609.
