Riley Jenkins' Obituary
Riley Jenkins born October 20,1933 in Louisiana, died April 3, 2022, in Oakland, California.
He attended Prescott Elementary School and McClymonds High School in Oakland. According to a friend "...he was the quarter back who led the McClymonds Warriors to the 1950 victories until he graduated. After graduation Riley attended Contra Costa Junior College where he continued to play football. College was interrupted by the US Army draft and Riley served the country in the US Army. After the military Riley secured employment in San Francisco at the Westin St.Francis Hotel where he charmed guests for over 30 years as a doorman. Hospitality and style were ingrained in this son of the south. Riley knew all the best restaurants in the City and had become fast friends with many restaurant owners because of his natural charm. Let's add good dining and wearing great clothes and shoes along with his signature Kangol hat or baseball cap and basic, not flashy, jewelry to the things he loved. Riley was a very sharp dresser and became a stylist San Franciscan living on Pine St for many years...."
Riley Jenkins loved San Francisco, Jazz, smoking, pool, art, entertainers, Black History, and living well. He will be missed by friends and family.
