Rick Ludwigsen's Obituary
Rick Ludwigsen, 70, of Oakley, went to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of Tuesday, July 19, 2022 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Oakland on February 10, 1952 to Dick and Nadine Ludwigsen. Rick played baseball for various San Leandro leagues while growing up in Bonaire. At Pacific High School he lettered in sports and enjoyed friendships that continued throughout his life. We don’t think there is a person Rick met that didn’t become a friend for life. He graduated from Pacific, class of ‘70, and went on to study at Chabot. He eventually decided to do some traveling and went about to discover other adventures.
Once settled, Rick worked for Markstein Beverage Company located in Union City for 32 years until his retirement. Part of his enjoyment was working their special events especially at the fairgrounds interacting and making new friends along the way.
He was married to Kathy and they enjoyed serving and worshiping at Calvary Chapel Crossroads in Antioch. Rick became a man of God on March 29, 1995 and was a faithful servant. He enjoyed fellowship with new and old friends.
He is survived by his wife Kathy and sister Debbie Marchan. He was step dad to April Martin (Greg) and Dean Barberio (Sierra). Rick was a loving Uncle to Derek Marchan (Elvida) and Michael Marchan (Jennifer). He was a Grandpa and a loving Great Uncle in addition to his many cousins and dear friends.
Rick will be missed and we are happy to have had moments where each of us learned something special about him.
Rick’s celebration of life will be held in late August.
