Richard Arthur Lynch's Obituary
Richard Arthur Lynch
March 11, 1928- January 26, 2016
Resident of Oakland
Richard Lynch passed away unexpectedly January 26, 2016. Preceded in death by his lovely wife Margaret, Richard, known to his friends as Dick, was the youngest of 4 children of Joseph and Florence Lynch. He attended Fremont high school in Oakland then enlisted in the US Marines. After attending UC Berkeley, he went on to have a rewarding career at Del Monte Foods in marketing.
A dedicated and loving father to 7 children and their spouses and favorite “papa” to several grand kids, Dick touched many in ways that only those touched can describe. He was an amazing man, raising 7 kids, coaching their basketball teams at St Paschal, playing tennis with his long time Bay o Vista buddies, family trips to his favorite Maui, Lair of the Bear Cal camp for 50 years and simply enjoying everything life had to offer all while lending a helping hand or an attentive ear along the way.
Many people who knew him will remember his fantastic sense of humor, unmistakable laugh and kind hearted and giving nature. His love for Cal sports, SF Giants and SF 49ers was undying and his story telling of his life’s experiences was legendary as you would expect from an Irishman.
Although we have lost a special man, God has gained a very special angel. He will be missed tremendously but lives on in all the people whose lives he has touched throughout his precious life.
A memorial celebrating his life will be held at St Paschal Baylon Church 3700 Dorisa Ave. Oakland on Saturday February 13th @ 11 am. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Hanna Boys Center www.hannacenter.org
