Renee Willis' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Renee Carol Willis
March 15, 1959 – December 28, 2025
Renee Carol Willis was born on March 15, 1959, in Oakland, California, to Doris V. Willis and Charles L. Willis, Sr. A proud graduate of Far West High School, Renee went on to pursue her artistic passions, studying photography at the Fashion Institute in Los Angeles and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Inspired by her father, Chuck Willis—Owner and Proprietor of PhotoCraft Studios in Oakland—Renee’s eye for beauty and composition began to flourish early in life.
Renee built a successful career in fashion, working with prestigious couture retailers such as Wilkes Bashford, Tiffany & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdale's. However, it was through her artistry as a jeweler that Renee truly found her calling. Known for her exceptional craftsmanship and one-of-a-kind designs, she became one of the most skilled and respected jewelers in the Bay Area.
A passionate traveler, Renee explored the world with her camera in hand, capturing the beauty of the places she visited and the people she met. Her photographs and memories reflect a life lived boldly and creatively.
Renee was preceded in death by her beloved father, Charles “Chuck” Willis; her brother, Charles Willis, Jr, her mother, Doris V. Gaskin. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters: Joyce A. Thompson ( son Aaron Ford ), Sharon L. Jacks ( daughter Tiaja ), Deborah Y. Willis, and Lynn Gaskin-Aganon (John), and, Charisse Willis, along with a host of Extended Family Members and Dear Friends.
The Family extends their DEEPEST GRATITUDE to our Cousins Willa Willis, Jacque Willis-McGhee, and Niece Veronica (Gaskin) Hughes for their UNWAVERING LOVE and SUPPORT, during her ILLNESS and BEYOND.
Renee's vibrant spirit, artistic talent, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In Lieu of Flowers, the Family kindly requests that DONATIONS, be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in RENEE CAROL WILLIS' honor.
