Raphael V. Jackson Sr.'s Obituary
Raphael V. Jackson affectionately known as R.V., was born on April 9, 1927 in Castle,
Oklahoma to English Jackson Sr. and Edna Katherine Jackson.
He later relocated to Oakland, California with his family where he received his
education, graduating from McClymonds High School. As a young man he was very
supportive of his family. He loved being there for his siblings and spending time
at Defermery park recreation center. He proudly served his country in the United
States Army in 1945.
In 1952 he married the love of his life, Lois Brown and remained married for 62
years. Together they made their home in Oakland while he worked for several
construction companies as a Foreman. To this union was born six children. Raphael loved
being a father. He was a hardworking, dedicated and loyal provider. He worked many
long hours to care for his family. After retirement some of his favorite pastimes were
watching old westerns, sports, taking his morning walks and reading the daily
newspaper. He was known to be a very good baker; his specialty was his delicious apples
pies. He enjoyed home improvement projects which involved many trips to Home Depot.
The running joke was “he would either fix it or break it”.
He was proceeded in death by his three sisters Mozelle Daniels, Edna Katherine Harris
and Mary Alice Mims, and four brothers Maurice Jackson, Willie H Jackson., Cermer
(Babe) Jackson and English Jackson Jr.
He is survived by his faithful and devoted wife Lois Marie Jackson and his children
Pamela Jones and husband Gary, Renee Campos and husband Miguel, Raphael Jackson
Jr. and wife Carrie, Erick J. Jackson, Joycelyn Thomas and husband Fredrick, and
Daphany Allen and husband Kevin. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Alona
Ellingberg and husband Chokwe , Amiee Reed, Camille Jackson, Danyeal Bobino, Alise
Jones, Candis Bobino, Ermina Thomas, Ammiel Campos and wife Dominique, Jonathan
Jackson, Vanessa Jackson, Melissa Jackson, Allie Campos, Briana Jackson, Andrew
Allen, Jackson Allen, and great-grandson Isaiah Gary.
He is also survived by his siblings Lorene Harris, Betty Ruth Jimmerson, his twin
brother Nary (N.J.) Jackson , Juanita Wortham and husband William, two step-sisters,
Charles Scott and Mildred Roberson and sister-in-law Willie Lee Jackson, and a host of
cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
