I grew up with Randall in Brooklyn, we were visitors at each others' houses and jammed/traded drum solos as best we could. He turned me onto Ornette Coleman's Science Fiction and other jazz albums, I'm sure I played a few for him too. Randall had a natural enthusiasm and a joy that was hard to dim. I'd heard he later got into heavy metal and had worked briefly on a hog farm but this was all before the internet. Sad to see him go but glad he got busy during his time and did so much playing. He was a truly nice guy and I'll miss him.
