Ralph "Ray" Joyce Jr.'s Obituary
Ralph (Ray) R. Joyce Jr. of El Sobrante, CA. Born July 4, 1948 in High Point, North Carolina. Ralph died September 27,2017. Ray passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He spent 9 years as a Top-Secret Communications Specialist in the U.S. Navy. He was then employed by U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in El Cerrito, CA. He retired in 2003 after 35 years of service.
He spent many pleasurable hours as an avid stamp collector, accumulating an extensive knowledge of world history and geography.Ray would spend hours on end reading and loved conversations of history, amazing his listeners with ability for detail. We always waited for him to say, “I do digress. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Anna Joyce. Sons: Paul A. Gomez ( Earline) and Mark S. Gomez (Kalene). Grandchildren: Kim Lung ( Marcus), Christopher Gomez ( Hayley) Scott Gomez, Trevor Gomez, and Logan Gomez. Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Haylee, Gavin, Addison and Joshua. Goddaughter, Eliza.
He also is survived by an extended family in North Caroline including: Mother Maxine Joyce and Father Ralph Joyce Sr., Brother , Richard Joyce. Sisters: Joy Bryant ( Carl ) and Melinda Joyce. Uncle and Aunt Porter and Betty Thompson and Uncle Robey Joyce.
