Phyllis Y. Brown-Broadnax's Obituary
Phyllis Yvonne Brown-Broadnax was born on November 20, 1957, to Anna L. Brown in Los Angeles, California and departed on May 14, 2024, in Oakland California at the age of 66. She was raised in Oakland and attended varies Oakland Public Schools, graduating from Fremont High School. During her time at Fremont High School, Phyllis was active on the Aquatic Synchronized Swim Team. Following graduation, Phyllis career as an administrative assistant afforded her an extensive job history with companies such as Clorox, Corn Nuts, Mills College, BART and completing her career at U.C. Berkeley as an Administrative Assistant over new students at Foothill housing, where she was deeply loved by students, staffs, and administration. Phyllis enjoyed cooking, reading, arts/crafts and spending time with family and friends. She as a great “Hostess with the moistest” and the life of the party. She laughed hard and enjoyed many activities, her favorite being vacationing in Cabo, Mexico. Phyllis gave her life to Christ at an early age, became a member of Bibleway Church in Oakland, later joining and worshipping at Shiloh Church in Oakland. Phyllis married Carl Broadnax on October 8, 1994, and to that union was born a daughter, Carla Francesca Broadnax. Phyllis is predeceased by her beloved grandmother Myrtice L. Brown, Grandfather Jay C. Brown, Sr., Uncles Jay C. Brown Jr. (Vicki), Norman Brown, Aunts Jacqueline Brown, Carolyn Orr and Great Aunt Audrey Jordan, Sister-in-law Roshun, Father-in-law Franklin Broadnax, Brother-in-laws Vince Broadnax, Gerron Broadnax, Terry Broadnax and Mother-in-law Wallace Broadnax. She leaves to mourn her husband Carl Broadnax, son Sean E. Goode, daughter Carla F. Broadnax, stepdaughter Francesca Eubank, bother-in-law Darrel Broadnax, her loving grandson Kalihl Taylor Jr., her mother Anna L. Scott, father Walter A. Scott, sisters Yolanda Roberson (Randal), Tammy White (Darryl), brothers Kevin Brown , Michael Scott (Cheryl) and sister Carmen Williams (Mark Sr.)
