Peggy Kim's Obituary
Peggy Kim, 81, passed away in San Leandro, CA on Oct 8, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. The eldest of seven children, Mrs. Kim was born in Pusan, Korea, on May 11, 1931. During the Korean War she met Hyung Kim, whom she married in 1952. After the war, the Kims immigrated to Seattle, Washington, and attended Seattle Pacific University, where Peggy earned a degree in mathematics. The Kims moved to Duluth, Minnesota, in 1963, where they raised three children, and Peggy worked as a computer programmer. During that time, Peggy and her husband traveled extensively, visiting five continents and living for a time in England, Taiwan and Malaysia. Peggy and Hyung also shared a passion for opera and ballroom dancing, and Peggy was a life-long avid gardener. The couple retired back to Seattle in 1992, where they enjoyed golfing and continued their many travels, visiting South America and Antarctica to complete their tour of all seven continents. Mrs. Kim moved to California after her husband’s passing in 2002, where she became an active member of the Red Hat social society and a vital member of her community, known for her friendliness and desire to help others. Mrs. Kim is survived by her three children, Lisa Drake, Mimi Kim and Ron Kim, and three grandchildren.
