Pearl Cutler's Obituary
Pearl Cutler passed away on June 11, 2013 at the age of 90. She was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 25, 1923. After graduating from high school, she worked as an executive secretary in New York City. Married on December 25, 1949, she and her husband Ralph were devoted to each other for more than 63 years. In 1951, Pearl and Ralph left the east coast to join family and begin a new life in California. They settled in Penngrove where they lived in the same home for 56 years. When her children were younger, Pearl worked in Cotati as a bookkeeper with her sister and brother-in-law, Mollie and Ed Lewitter. For more than twenty years, she worked at Sonoma State College in the Financial Aid Office, assisting students to find work while completing their degrees. She was passionate about helping others, especially women who were on their own and struggling to take care of their families. She crocheted hundreds of lap blankets and hats for patients with serious medical conditions. Pearl was creative, hard working, and always excited to learn another skill. She loved the challenge of fixing things that were old and broken or creating something new. She was proud of the recliner she reupholstered for her husband. As a talented seamstress, she made clothes, drapes, seat cushions, and boat covers – whatever her family needed. She used to joke about how she could fix anything with some WD-40. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She is predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, her sisters Mollie and Adele, and her parents Rebecca and Isidore Feder. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Eileen and husband Steve Oliver of Danville, daughter Wendy and husband Steve Patterson of Fairfield, her grandchildren Michelle, Jeremy, Michael, Justin, and Melissa, and her sister-in-law Ann Rotberg. Her highest priority was always the happiness of her family. She encouraged us to take on new challenges and seek out what we loved to do. She would want us to know that she enjoyed the journey. Services were private.
