Mrs. Mantha, as she will always be Mrs Mantha to me since I met her when I was 15, was our Laney Aquatics swim team mom! She always welcomed us into her home, taught us all the dirty French words (which was very cool when you were in high school), made us laugh, listened to us, and most important made us feel loved! And she helped us get to those far away swim meets like Santa Cruz and Russian River by loaning that big car…even if Rick locked the keys in the trunk, not once but twice, as we were loading and heading home. I have such wonderful memories of her, even now as I am approaching my own 70th birthday, and I write this right after today’s swim practice. I am still a swimmer now because of Mrs Mantha and others who supported me in those Laney Aquatics days. I am forever grateful to have known her! As I have settled in Atlanta, I have not seen her in many years, but she lives in my memories and my heart! Wishing all your family comfort and love at this difficult time!
