Paul Hardy Parker's Obituary
Paul Hardy Parker, a lifelong resident of Alameda, has passed away. Paul was born on May 4th, 1961 and died at the age of 52. Paul was the son of Louise H. and the late William S. Parker. He is also survived by his brother Bruce and Cathy Parker of Clayton, Georgia, and his beloved guinea pig, 'Sam'.
Paul attended schools in Alameda starting with Edison Elementary, graduating to Lincoln Elementary, followed on by graduating from Alameda High School, and then on to Alameda Junior College where he graduated with an Associate Degree.
Paul then enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged after serving a four year tour of duty to include assignments on Okinawa and Guam.
After the Military, Paul returned to Alameda and started working for the Alameda Unified School District in the Operations/ Maintenance Department. At the time of his death, Paul had worked 24 years with the District.
Paul was a highly-visible mainstream figure here in Alameda. He could be seen daily riding his silver bicycle with his blue back pack. The vastness of his many involvements on the Island, his volunteer service to the community of Alameda, his work with the school system, and his constant mentoring of Alameda's young children speak VOLUMES for the character of the man and the size of Paul's heart. Paul Parker's outlook and attitude on life and the positive feelings he left everyone he encountered with were and will remain his trademarks. It is Friday somewhere Paul, and you will be missed.
Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Alameda, 2001 Santa Clara Avenue on Saturday the 20th of July 2013, at 2:00 P.M..
Interment will be at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, where he will rest beside his father.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alameda Education Foundation, Boy Scout Troop Two, or the charity of your choice in Paul's name to celebrate his life in Alameda.
