Pamela Murphy
Pamela Murphy, born October 30, 1964, went into her Mother’s loving arms on July 27, 2016. Pam was born in Oakland California to Herbert Curry Sr. and Flora Lee Murphy. Pam grew up in Oakland California and graduated from Oakland High School in 1982.
In 1995, Pam nurtured a relationship with God and accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into her heart. Her relationship with the Lord was evident in her spirit, her speech, and her life. God is love and Pam showed that love to everyone who was blessed to know her. “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 5:8
Pam had a long and varied work career. She worked for the Oakland Unified School District for 3 years. She also worked at the Oakland Coliseum for 15 years. After an injury, she spent the next 8 years attending college and working in her chosen field. She received her Bachelor or Arts in Early Childhood Development from Chabot College in Hayward. She then worked for the YMCA’s Early Childhood Development Centers where she was the Office Manager. She then spent 3 years working for Rim Hospitality in their accounting department. Pam had a very fulfilling career in which her life enriched the lives of many.
Pam is survived by her wife of 21 years, Beverly Murphy and her son Darius Carter-Edmond. Pam’s passing was preceded by her Mother, Flora Lee Murphy, her Father, Herbert Curry, her brothers Chester Murphy and Ray Murphy. Pam is further survived by her siblings and their spouses, Jerome and Debbie Murphy, Nancy Woods, Audie Murphy, Timothy Murphy, Kim Michelle Edmond, Edward and Linda Murphy, Audrey and Tony Caro, Terrie and Alex Strong. Pam was Mimi to numerous nieces, nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces who all held a very special place in her heart.
Visitation for Pam will be Wednesday, August 3rd from 4PM-8PM. The services will be held on Thursday, August 4th at 10AM. There will be a potluck repass following the service in the Reception Hall. All will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland California. Pam will be cremated and her ashes will be spread in a private ceremony.
