Ofelia Aguirre's Obituary
Ofelia Aguirre, 82, of Oakland, CA, passed away on February 1, 2022.
She was born in Yolo, CA on November 7, 1939, to the married union of Asunción and Eduardo Vidales, Sr. Ofelia was one of seventeen siblings: Connie, Josephine, Galdino, Flora, Vera, Helen, Dolores, Frank, Esther, Esther, Edward, Jr., Sally, Esperansa, John, Consuelo and Salvador. Ofelia was previously married to Anthony Aguirre III. She graduated from Woodland High School.
Ofelia worked for the State of California for 41 years and retired from the Department of Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board in 2001. After her retirement, she worked as an annuitant for the State of California, State Compensation Insurance Fund for approximately 5 years.
After officially leaving the work force, Ofelia joined the “Our Family Circle” and the Downtown Oakland Senior Center. She had a passion for cooking, baking, garage sales, antique fairs, sewing, doll making, card making, arts and crafts, gardening, photography, collecting watermelon items for her kitchen & garden and collecting sea shells. Ofelia enjoyed traveling and listening to salsa music, but most of all she loved her family. She always emphasized the importance of putting family first and always being there for them. Family was a huge part of Ofelia’s foundation.
Ofelia is survived by her two daughters: Anastasia and Davina Aguirre; her bonus son, Anthony Aguirre IV; ex-husband, Anthony Aguirre III; seven siblings: Frank, Esther, Edward, Jr., Sally, Esperansa, John and Consuelo; three bonus grandchildren: Eisenhower Castro, Anthony Aguirre V and Christopher Aguirre; bonus daughter-in-law, Emeline Aguirre and numerous brother and sister in laws, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ofelia had such a loving heart and warm spirit that she impacted people in a special way. She will forever be missed, but will always be in our hearts.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes located at 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611. The viewing will held be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the service to follow from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A reception will follow the service at 3:00 p.m. inside the Pavilion Room at the Pleasant Hill Community Center located at 320 Civic Drive, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. The reception will conclude at 6:00 p.m.
