Norma Jean Marlow's Obituary
Norma Jean Marlow was born to Benny Johnson and Homer Johnson on May 2, 1930 in Houston, Texas. She moved to Oakland, California and graduated from McClymonds High School in 1948 and also attended Laney College and achieved an Associates of Arts Degree.
She worked in San Francisco for a number of years. Later she moved to Los Angeles for a better position at the Pacific Stock Exchange as a Data Entry operator. While working at Pacific Stock Exchange , she attended the Computer Learning Learning Center. She completed courses pertaining to computer Tech, computer operations and computer programing in 1973.This qualified her for positions in computer science.
She moved back to Oakland, CA to work for the Federal Government.She worked as a Data Entry Operator and later became a computer Technician. After more than 20 years of working for the government she retired from the Oakland Army Base.
She worked part-time for Oakland Public Schools, OOE, Voter’s Registration, and numerous other jobs, and activities.Norma volunteered her services.She was an advocate for human rights and human advancements for African American people.
Norma believed in putting family first and achieving family togetherness at all times. She enjoyed interior decorating, attending Jazz and R&B concerts. She loved driving so she always had a car.
Norma Jean Marlow was survived by Brenda Wamble, Matthew Harrion, 4 grand, 8 great, and 5 great great grand children, her sister Verna Johnson, 2 nieces, and many cousins.
Family and Friends are invited to a Visitation on Wednesday December 27, 2017 from 4:00pm till 8:00pm.
Funeral will be on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at Chapel of the Chimes 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611.
