Nelson Richard Norman's Obituary
NELSON RICHARD NORMANBorn March 20th, 1943 in Berkeley, CA. A gentle, loving husband, father, and friend, he passed away on December 10th at his home of six years in Pleasanton, CA. Son of Richard B. Nelson and Geneva L. Nelson (both deceased), he is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 33 years, Carolyn, and his son Christopher. Brother to David L. Nelson and Linda J. Nelson; uncle to Brendan and Dana Nelson.Richard had recently retired from a forty year long career at Oakland Metal Treating Co. before being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this past June. He was a proud USMC veteran of the Vietnam War, and a die-hard Raider fan who will be remembered for his endless humor, loyal friendship, and courageous spirit. Friends and family are invited to attend memorial services at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, on Tuesday, December 18th at 11am. A reception will follow at Richard’s home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Richard’s name to the hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Suite 100, Dublin, CA 94568.
