I was terribly sorry to learn belatedly of Mike's passing. We had spoken during the summer and he told me of his illness. I'm shocked and saddened that he lost his battle. I met Mike many years ago through Oracle, then later with OpenVision and most recently with Kana. Mike was an extremely talented person who had a unique ability to motivate people to want to do their best. He will be sorely missed. Please accept my deepest condolences.Jim Mendelson
My experience with Michael Fields was that of a kind, gentle soft spoken generous man. One of the last times I did see and speak with him he told me I would always be his sister-in-law. I felt the same way. This was very touching to me because he was off few words. He had always been so very good to me. I have fond and wonderful memories of him and may he rest in peace.My condolences to the family.

I first met Mike via his brother David back in 1976 and he was an inspriation to me in my ventures in the technology arena, sales & marketing.I will always remember him.May he live a peaceful life in heaven with angels.Albert Walker
I am deeply saddened by the news of Mike's passing. Mike was one of the great industry leaders. He is responsible for launching thousands of successful careers, simply through his belief in people and by giving them the opportunity to reach their potential. He was not only an effective leader but the epitome of human kindness. He easily disarmed everyone when he walked into a room. He used the term 'respect for the individual' with complete sincerity and never deviated from that mantra in his actions. Many of us can thank Mike for providing a model of what great leadership and executive actions and words really stand for. With all that we will always remember that Mike was also an inspiring friend to so many of us, loyal, kind, and caring. If I close my eyes I hear his calming voice and special laughter. I will always remember Mike Fields with such immense fondness.
