Melvin Donnell Jarvis' Obituary
On April 29, 2026 at 1:18 am, in Gods infinite wisdom called home Melvin Donnell Jarvis Sr. who was a loving husband and father. Born July 3, 1938 to the late Nathan and Eula Jarvis. At an early age, Melvin was baptized at Little Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake, VA. He was educated in the Norfolk County School System, graduating from Crestwood High School in 1956. After graduating high school he entered the United States Air force for 4 years. Upon completion of military duty he moved to California. There he attended Laney College, worked various jobs and retired from the Oakland Public School District after 29 years of service as an Electrician. In his free time Melvin enjoyed going to the Raider games, camping/fishing and spending time with family and friends. He is proceeded in death by Siblings: Nathan Jarvis Jr, Carolyn Jarvis-Ethridge, Sandra Jarvis-Sears. Ex-wife Dixie Jarvis. Stepsons: Kalon Wofford and Duane Wofford. He leaves to mourn his passing and to love and cherish his memory his loving wife: Sandra Jarvis. Siblings: Clifton Jarvis (Kathy), Elvy Jarvis & Laverne Boykin (Ernest). Children: Terri Jarvis, Sonja Jarvis-Sanders(Ernest), Sanece Jarvis, Melvin D. Jarvis Jr, (Belinda) and Keith Jarvis. Favorite nephew Raynard Jarvis. Step children: Andre Flowers and Darin Tillman. Grandchildren: Tamika Jarvis, Melvin Jarvis III, Tyler Henry, Azania Jarvis, Lavell Jarvis, Natasha Harris, Naayliah Gayton, Caprix Gayton, Tisaifari Jarvis, Ronald Turner and Andre, DeAndre, Maya, Aynia Flowers. Great-grandchildren: Donnell Jarvis, Jeramiah Jarvis, Ronald Turner Jr., Sahron Ordaz and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
