Mee Har Lew's Obituary
Mee Har Lew passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024 at 88, surrounded by her family. She was born in China and immigrated to the US from Hong Kong with the help of her future husband, Tommie Lew. They were married for 50 years and lived mostly in California, moving to San Leandro in the late 1970’s.
Working side by side, they opened multiple restaurants and a neighborhood mini market together. They loved cooking and socializing with family and friends and often hosted small parties and gatherings. Mee was an amazing cook and her delicious meals with fresh ingredients and secret sauces were a joy to all. In addition to cooking, Mee loved playing Mah jong, going to Chinese operas and traveling. She enjoyed spending time in Los Angeles and San Francisco with her lifelong friends, her “four sisters”. She spent afternoons enjoying Dim sum and loved Hainan chicken and fried duck beaks for dinner. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she spent time cooking and caring for them and traveling to visit.
Mee is preceded in death by her husband Tommie Lew and her brother, Howard Wong.
Mee is survived by her sons Frank (Irene) and Michael (Winifred), her daughter Anna, her 7 beloved grandchildren, siblings- Martha and Tom, relatives and friends. Mee will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
