Smith (Mo)December 16, 1937 – March 13, 2007Resident of Pleasanton Age 69, passed away on March 13, 2007 after a courageous battle with interstitial lung disease, at Stanford University Hospital in Stanford, CA. Dearly beloved husband of Carol A. Smith, loving father of John R. Smith of Tracy, Karen G. Kinsey of Grants Pass, OR, and Joan E. Smith of Pleasanton. Dear grandfather of Michael J. Kinsey of Grants Pass, Joshua T. Smith and Eric R. Smith of Tracy. Dear brother of Carolyn S. Buckels of Cumming, GA, the late Charles R. Smith of Lawrenceville, GA and late Robert A. Smith of Norcross, GA. Devoted son of the late William A. Smith and the late Mozelle M. Smith of Clarkesville, GA. Also leaves relatives in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. A resident of Pleasanton, CA for 15 years. Maurice graduated from Habersham High School in Clarkesville, GA in 1955. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1955 through 1959 and was employed by Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent Technologies for 35 years. He worked part-time at the San Ramon Golf Club after retirement. Mo loved being with his family and particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He also enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing. He was a member of the Northern California Golf Association and the American Bowling Congress. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating his life on Saturday, March 17 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the Center for Interstitial Lung Disease, Attn: Nanci Nessel, with checks made payable to Stanford University; 300 Pasteur Drive, Room H3143, Stanford, CA 94305-5236.
