Masako Yamauchi's Obituary
Mrs. Masako "Masie" Yamauchi, was born on the 2nd of February 1924 in Inglewood, California to Shoshichiro and Hisa Okane. On the morning of the 2nd of November, 2024; at the age of 100 years 8months, her life here in this world came to end so that she could rejoin her husband Akira Yamauchi forevermore. Masie and Ike Yamauchi were married for over 60 years and had 5 children. Masie had many interests and hobbies: touring internationally, going on cruises, Ikebana-flower arrangements, ballroom dancing, square dancing, sewing, drawing, making crafts, and more. She loved socializing and making new friends: weekly pinochle games, bowling, and participating in the JACL and CARP meetings and activities. Masie, an American of Japanese descent, was born in the roaring 20s, thrived during the Great Depression on her family farm in Southern California, was interned at Gila River internment center during WWII with her family, was married and raised children post World War II and thru the time of McCarthyism and the Vietnam War, and welcomed Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren in to the world. She was an advocate and model for all to keep moving, to grow old gracefully, to be a good neighbor, and to give one’s time to others who could use a helping hand. She lived an extraordinary and full life. Masie is survived by 4 children; Wanda "Suki" Warden, Lesley, Jonathan, and Donald. 8 grandchildren Oliver, Kristen, Amy, Mia, Penelope, Sophia, Stella, Tyler and 5 great-grandchildren; Drew, Mia, Nicolai, Natasha and Kira. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, David and her beloved husband Ike.
