Mary Louise Jackson, “Sister” to family members, died March 6, 2014, after a heroic battle with breast cancer.
Mary was born and raised in Berkeley, California. She attended Saint Columba Catholic Elementary School in Oakland, and graduated from Ursuline High School in Santa Rosa, California. At the time of her death, Mary was a long-time resident of Oakland, CA.
Mary was born in Berkeley, California on August 5, 1948, to William and Madealine Beal who preceded her in death. Two of her siblings, Barbara Jones and Robert Beal, also preceded Mary in death.
Mary married Jim Jackson July 19, 1970. To that union, Jimmy Jackson and Tippanee Jackson were born. Mary was a devoted mother who actively supported her children’s academic, athletic and social endeavors. Mary demonstrated the same devotion, enthusiasm and love for her only grandson, Amani Lewis (Tippanee’s son). She was a participant and active supporter of the Grandparent’s Club at Saint Leo the Great School where Amani is a First Grade student.
One of Mary’s favorite things to do was travel. She will be especially remembered for her spirit of adventure, which began with her high school trip to Paris, France. She will also be remembered for her quick wit and her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and important.
