Mary Louise Houston's Obituary
Mary Louise Houston, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 at her home in Hayward, CA. Mary was born in Oakland on October 10, 1929. Mary was a student at Permanente Nursing School in Oakland until the birth of her first child in 1950. Mary was a piano teacher. For years she taught piano from her home. Mary went back to nursing school after her children were grown, graduating in 1974 with a degree in nursing from Chabot College in Hayward. She worked as a Registered Nurse till the age of 70, at Alameda Hospital. She was a resident of Alameda County all of her life, living in Hayward for the last 54 years. Her hobbies over the years included painting, gardening, and traveling. She was a member of the Eden Garden Club in Castro Valley for 20 years, and was a member of the Spinnaker Yacht Club in San Leandro. She will be remembered as a positive and happy person.
Raymond Houston, her husband for 59 years passed, away in 2007. Mary is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gloria S. Blackstone, of Castro Valley, two sons David of Discovery Bay, Contra Costa County, and Paul of Hayward. She loved her six grand children, Andrea, Stephanie, Brian, Michael, Amanda, Megan, and one great-grand child, Luke. She is greatly missed by her partner in life for the last 12 years Lawrence Wang. Memorial Service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland at 11AM, March 20, 2022.
