Margaret Jean Rosen's Obituary
Margo Rosen, age 61, passed away May 28th after a long illness,
at home with her wife and partner of 23 years by her side.
Margo had a quick wit, warm smile and passion for life. Margo
had a passion for travel and loved exploring new places around
the globe with her wife and friends. She was an avid reader,
talented guitarist, photographer and had a renowned fondness
for café mocha.
Ms. Rosen was the former District Director for State Senator
and later Congresswoman Jackie Speier. She was a notable
presence in Local, State and Federal government. She had a
particular zeal for constituent service, and was nicknamed
“The Miracle Worker” for her success in resolving constituent
issues. Margo was a tireless advocate for equal rights and social
justice. She was a strong supporter of causes for foster care
youth and senior citizens.
A native Californian, Margo grew up in Huntington Beach. She
graduated from Sonoma State University and Hastings College
of Law. She is survived by her wife, Katy Johnson, and brothers,
David Rosen and Dan Shaner. She was predeceased by her
parents Irvin and Jetta (Erlick) Rosen, and her sister Renee
Rosen VanDyk.
