“Her children arise and call her blessed.” – Proverbs 31:28a
Margaret Sharpe Jones, affectionately known as “Mother,” was born April 14, 1929, in Baxter, Arkansas, and entered eternal rest on August 28, 2025, after 96 years of a life well-lived. The daughter of Rev. Henry and Hattie Sharpe, she was the last surviving of eleven siblings.
Mother dedicated her life to faith, family, and education. After relocating to California, she earned degrees in Child Development and Human Development, serving for over 40 years as an educator
and administrator, shaping the lives of countless children and families.
A devoted member of Beth Eden Baptist Church since 1963, she faithfully served as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Women’s Mission Society President, choir member, and leader in multiple ministries. She also served proudly as a Past Worthy Matron with the Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter No. 4.
Known for her warm spirit, poetry, music, hospitality, and generosity, Mother embodied Proverbs 31 as a virtuous woman of faith, strength, and love. She poured her heart into her 13 children, her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Jones; five children; and other beloved family members. She leaves to cherish her memory eight children, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, extended family, church family, and friends.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
