After 89 wonderful years, Maggie Gee passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013. She was born on August 5, 1923 at 2773 Acton Street in Berkeley, California. The story of Maggie's life had many fascinating chapters including political activist, WASP (Women Air Service Pilots), mathematician, computer scientist, and physicist. She would like to thank everyone who contributed to it with great friendship – she loved you all. Maggie’s accomplishments have been recognized by numerous groups including being the recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal.
Maggie also loved Berkeley, the place where she grew up, attended public schools and UC Berkeley. She was active in numerous community and political organizations, including the Berkeley Democratic Club and the Berkeley Community Fund – she had friends in every camp. If you would like to honor Maggie, be sure to vote in every election for the rest of
your life, always participate in public life, support your community and enjoy every moment that you can. In lieu of flowers, Maggie asked that donations be made to Planned Parenthood of Alameda County. A memorial is planned at the Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland on February 23 at 2.
