Thank you for the beautiful obituary. I, like so many others, deeply loved Manuel. He had warm and playful heart and soul, and wickedly sharp and full mind that live on with us. In struggling to cope with the thought he's not with us anymore, I've decided to honor, and cherish, the foibles in myself and others I love. That is something he helped us do.Manuel reminded us to slow down, not work so hard, and loiter. (He loved the word.) Manuel had a way of lovingly looking into your face, shaking your shoulder, and saying 'Really?' in a chiding caring tone with a gentle smile when he knew things weren't quite right. You can't do that when you're rushed. Manuel loved poetry and was a poet. This poem from one of his favorite poets in college reminds me of Manuel. I hope it brings you all some pleasure as it does me, and that he hears us. xo, Sarahi thank You God for most this amazinge.e. cummingsi thank You God for most this amazing day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything which is natural which is infinite which is yes(i who have died am alive again today, and this is the sunâ??s birthday; this is the birth day of life and of love and wings: and of the gay great happening illimitably earth)how should tasting touching hearing seeing breathing anyâ??lifted from the no of all nothingâ??human merely being doubt unimaginable You?(now the ears of my ears awake and now the eyes of my eyes are opened)e.e. cummings 1894-1962
