Mallie Bleau Moore III's Obituary
He was born on October 22, 1965 to Joyce Penn Moore and Mallie Bleau Moore II. His father was a ship’s engineer in the Navy and Mallie grew up on bases in the Philippines, Japan and Hawaii. During his high school years, he moved to San Leandro and lived with his Aunt Loyce and Uncle Manuel. He was a proud member of the Drum Corps during those years.
Mallie graduated from the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park in 1992. He was a member of the Bay Area culinary scene for the past 23 years. We worked in both restaurants, and more recently as a catering event cook. He worked for the past few years at Melons Catering and prior to that SpringLoaf Catering, Table Nectar, Grace Street Catering, and Global Gourmet.
Mallie was an extremely loyal employee and caring, thoughtful, kind friend. He was a very funny individual and brought much joy to the hearts and laughter to the bellies of his co-workers and friends. He was much loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his mother of Kalua Kona, Hawaii, and by his partner (and wife for a few days), Mary Kelly of Berkeley, CA. And of course by all those whose hearts he touched.
A celebration of Mallie’s life will take place on Sunday, September 20th from 2:00-6:00pm at Grace Street Catering, 4629 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland, CA 94609. Come a raise a glass to a wonderful, loving man.
