It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mai Thuan Tran, who departed from this world on February 11, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on August 6, 1926, in China, Mai's journey through life was marked by resilience, kindness, and a deep sense of love for her family and community.
As a young girl, Mai fled to Vietnam during the tumultuous years of World War II, seeking safety and a new beginning. She later moved to the United States, where she and her beloved husband worked tirelessly to build a better life for their family. Throughout her long and fruitful life, Mai was known for her boundless kindness and unwavering dedication to those around her.
Mai is survived by her two children, Tony Huynh and Jeny Ventura, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her impact on her community will be felt for generations to come.
Buddhist services will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland on February 26, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Mai's life. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have offered love and support during this difficult time.
