Maggie M. Phillips' Obituary
Maggie M. Phillips died in Piedmont, CA on December 1, 2001. Dearly beloved wife of Marvin Phillips for 59 years and the loving and devoted mother of Deirdra Gardener of Davidson, NC and Clifford Phillips of Barberton, OH. She was the Caring Sister of Lois Cox of St. Albans, WV. Her brother Clifford Morris preceded her in death. She is survived by her grandchildren: Ian Gardner of Vallejo, CA; Scott Gardener of San Diego, CA; Kaile Gardener of Raleigh, NC; Christopher Phillips of Seattle, WA; Nicholas Phillips of Reno, NV and by many dear relatives and friends. Mrs. Phillips was a teacher for 35 years at Portola Middle School in Richmond, Bancroft Middle School and San Leandro High School and was fully committed to the lives and welfare of her students. She was a native of Charleston, WV, but had lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 58 years. She was 83 years of age. She was a member of the Oakland First Baptist Church; Rockridge Women’s Club; Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Zeta Phi Chapter and the California Retired Teachers Association. She was a graduate of the University of Charleston and Holy Names College. Friends are invited to share in a Memorial Service at Oakland First Baptist Church on Saturday, December 22, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers Memorial Gifts to the Oakland First Baptist Church Foundation, 534 22nd Street, Oakland, CA 94612, are preferred.Chapel of the Chimes-Oakland(510) 654-0123″Service of Marked Distinction”
