Maedine Dussolena Turner's Obituary
Maedine D. Turner passed away into God’s hands at her home in Oakland, CA, on Sunday, August 3, 2014. She was 93 years old. Born on March 28, 1921, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert W. Turner, and her sister Alice Hardin of Sonora, CA. Maedine was a loving and essential part of an extended family of siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A native of Sonora, Maedine lived most of her adult life in Oakland, where she worked as an executive secretary for Kaiser Industries and Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation. She gave generously of her time to various causes and charities. She served on the Oakland Museum Women’s Board from 2000-2012. Prior to that, she served for many years as a volunteer for the Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale.
She was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Her concern for others in need was evidenced by her support of Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, CA.
For many years, she and her husband followed the Oakland A’s Baseball Team and enjoyed their season ticket seats on the First Base Line.
Friends are invited to visit at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, CA on Tuesday, August 12,2014 between 4:00-8:00 PM. Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church at 322 Saint James Dr., Piedmont, CA 94611 on Wednesday August 13, 2014. Reception to follow.
