Madeline April Mayfield's Obituary
Madeline April Mayfield, age 67, went to Heaven on December 31, 2014, in her home in San Pablo, California.
April is survived by her husband, Kinney Fretwell; her daughter, Amber Fretwell; her father, Mel Knox; her sisters Monica Knox and Mysti Knox-Outler (Eric), as well as her daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mellownee Knox, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
April was born on April 1, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio and later moved to Berkeley, California with her family. She graduated from Berkeley High School and California State University Hayward in California with a degree in Early Childhood Education. April worked as a Tenant Services Coordinator with Kaiser Industries at the Kaiser Center for over thirty years until she retired. Always wanting to stay active, she continued working part-time at Walmart in San Leandro.
April was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. Her family and friends will always remember her as a kind and gentle woman with a sweet smile and beautiful nature. She was the best mother and wife anyone could have asked for and although she is physically no longer with us, she will forever be in our hearts and watching over us. We find comfort in knowing that she is on a wondrous journey to reap her just rewards.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2pm on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Chapel of the Chimes: 4499 Piedmont Avenue. Oakland CA. 94611. Father Jay Matthews will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate April’s life.
