Mackie Dean Neal's Obituary
Mrs. Mackie "Dean" Neal, affectionately known as Mama Mackie, was born in Tucker Arkansas on August 25th, 1938 to her loving parents Henry Patterson and Verna Simmons. Mrs. Mackie was born being the only child, spending most of her childhood with her grandparents. Mrs. Mackie came to Oakland, California as a young child attending school in Oakland as well as graduating from Castlemont High School in 1957. She then met and married her loving husband Mr. Jimmy Lee Neal, AKA big Jimmy, in 1960. They spent 40 loving years together. Mrs. Mackie continued to follow her spiritual beliefs becoming a member of Allen Temple Baptist Church; being baptised there in 1973.
Mrs. Mackie was a beautiful spirit with a heart of gold that could hardly ever be seen without a smile or laughing. Although she was a very small woman, she had such a big heart. Mama Mackie was helpful and encouraging to many. She was simply a good wife and a good mother with a motherly personaity towards many. Mama Mackie was full of joy and was good with children, being a stay at home mom that gave her the opportunity of keeping and helping lots of kids among her own. She was a great cook and enjoyed to fish, travel and watch her soap operas.
Mrs. Mackie was called home on September 18th, 2021, reuniting with those that preceded her, parents Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, husband of 40 years, one great grandchild and several other family members.
Those who are left to cherish her memories are her remaining children Ernest and Kenneth Neal, first grandchild Ernisha Neal, Demitrius Quarin, Ernest Neal Jr. and a host of family and friends.
Mama Mackie will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her and will forever remain in our hearts.
