Lynn G. Caffrey's Obituary
Lynn Susan Gorman Caffrey was 75 years old when she left this life on July 1st, 2022 due to terminal lymphoma.
She was born in southeast Washington D.C. on March 25th, 1947, the only daughter of Edward Gorman and Dora Hallen. Her family’s religious tradition was Jewish, though her parents were not often devout. Apparently, she was a laughing child who liked to roller-skate and take part in the active neighborhood, but also had still, solemn moments.
She graduated from Montgomery-Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland and went on to the University of Maryland. She graduated with a degree in Journalism, and went on to do press work for the March of Dimes.
Lynn married Morgan “Pat” Caffrey in 1973. Together, they lived a colorful life meandering from East Coast to West Coast. They made lasting friendships along the way. As a couple, Lynn and Pat were hosts and entertainers, and Lynn will be remembered as a kind, giving, and endlessly fun friend.
For work, Lynn started as a consultant in Washington D.C., moving to insurance sales in San Francisco, focused on employee benefits. She founded Caffrey Insurance Solutions, Inc, and ran the business for 25 years. Lynn supported clients with great empathy and unprecedented attention to detail. Many clients became friends. The business is now owned and operated by her son, Gabriel, which made Lynn extremely proud.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Morgan ‘Pat’ Caffrey, and her younger brother, Bruce Charles Gorman. Her youngest brother, Scott Michael Gorman, passed away too young in 2009. Lynn had two children, Gabriel Gorman Caffrey and Elizabeth Dara Edmondson (née Caffrey). Gabriel married Sarah Schoomer, and together they have one daughter, Bronwyn Esther Caffrey. Elizabeth married Henry Edmondson in England, and they have two daughters, Sophie Elizabeth Edmondson and Olivia Mary Beatrice Edmondson. Lynn was also a devoted sister-in-law and aunt.
Lynn was justly proud of her work accomplishments and the relationships she developed throughout her life. She was even more proud of her family, the happy marriages of her children and her delightful granddaughters. She sought and reveled in family time above all else.
Lynn considered her life well-lived and rich in every way that mattered to her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her legacy lives on in her loving family.
