Lourdes Yngojo Hom's Obituary
Lourdes “Lou” Yngojo Hom, born December 6, 1929 in San Francisco, California, passed away
at home on November 2nd, 2021. She was holding her husband Henry’s hand and her two
daughters, Pamela and Valerie, were also with her. Lou was the daughter of Rafael Benedicto
Yngojo and Visitation Tegas Yngojo. She was the youngest of three with older brother Ralph
Yngojo and sister Delores Kikuchi. She was close to her extended family and enjoyed large
family gatherings around holidays and special occasions.
Lou attended San Francisco State College where she met her husband Henry. She later
attended the United States International University School of Education where she earned her
Master of Arts in Education. Lou had a long and successful career as an educator for the
Oakland Public School system and taught until she retired at age 72.
Lou is known by her friends and family to be an exceptional baker. Her Christmas cookies were
a holiday tradition and were loved by everyone. She was often out in the yard as gardening
connected her to nature and gave her a sense of peace. She enjoyed learning, was an avid
reader, and visited museums often. She adored her husband, Henry, and above all she most
loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a caring mother,
and a doting grandmother.
Lou is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry Hom, her daughter Pamela Hom, her
daughter Valerie and her husband Kevin Brennan, and her grandson, Henry MacDonald.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation, or
