Louise Yasuda-Ota's Obituary
Louise Yasuda-Ota, 88, of Alameda, California, passed away October 26, 2022.
She was born in Hollister, California in 1934. Louise graduated from Monterey Union High School, and attended beauty school, becoming a licensed beautician in 1955.
She married Gary Ota in 2002.
Louise was self-employed as a beautician for 28 years, then worked in export administration at Exel Microelectronics while also doing part-time apartment management. She was a member of the Buddhist Temple of Alameda, and Alameda Buddhist Women’s Association. Louise also participated in senior activities with Extending Connections at Buena Vista United Methodist Church, and recently benefited from J-Sei senior programs. She enjoyed traveling, participating in church and senior activities, and being baachan (grandma) to her neighbor’s son.
Louise is predeceased by her husband, Gary Ota, parents, Shigemi and Joyce Sakai, and brother, Roy Sakai. She is survived by a son and daughter from a first marriage, Joe and Cyndie Yasuda, sisters Betty (Seigi) Tadokoro, Kay (Frank) Osugi, Taeko Okamura, Amy Uesugi and Setsuko Shimokusu, and sister-in-law Tokie Sakai.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday December 1, 2022, at Chapel of the Chimes Oakland.
