Louise V. Linton's Obituary
Louise V. Linton (née Thomas) was born on May 3, 1930, in Holtville, California, and was the youngest of 11 children born to Himes Thomas and Idella Williams. Louise married Robert Linton on June 22, 1947, and the couple had three children – Linda (who preceded Louise in death), Donna and Robert. Although Louise lived in Texas, Japan, Washington and Hawaii as a military wife, she never found a place as beautiful as California and was fond of boasting about the merits of this great state.
Following the death of her husband, Louise and her children settled in Redlands, California, where she lived until 2005. While in Redlands, Louise was actively involved in her community. Whether at the YMCA, her church, or at the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino, Louise was devoted to serving others. Louise was never afraid to speak up for what she believed was right (in fact, she took great pleasure in fighting for the underdog). Everyone who knew her loved her outspoken nature. She also had a flair for fashion and was rarely seen without red lipstick and sparkly earrings. As she often said, she was “a woman of color, who could wear every color of the rainbow.”
Louise made her transition on January 15, 2020, peacefully at home with her family.
She is survived by many of her loved ones including - her children Donna and Robert; her grandchildren Reuben, Cemal, Adia, Justin, Robert Adam, Simone and Raquel; her great-grandchildren Kheti, Ayana, Amya, Jaylen, Taylor, Dilan James, Madisyn, Miles, Liam and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.
