Louise DeVincenzi's Obituary
Louise DeVincenziSurrounded by her family, Louise passed away peacefully to join her loving husband on March 5, 2012. She had just celebrated her 99th birthday with many of her loving family and friends.Luiga Firenze was born in Varese Ligure on February 22, 1913 to Giovanni and Maddalena Firenze. On June 11, 1939 she married the love of her life, Albert DeVincenzi. They raised their daughter Mary in Oakland, California.Small in stature, large in heart, Louise’s smile lit and filled the room with warmth. She was always there to offer aid, comfort and prayers to all who were in need; she never forgot the name of anyone she prayed for. She was called Mamma by all who met her because her love was unconditional and freely given.Besides her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband Albert and sister Domenica Delucchi and brother Vincenzo Firenze. She is survived by her daughter Mary and husband Guy (Butch) Markell (who she called son), her sisters Maria Delucchi of Lavagna, Italy and Assunta Figone of Varese, Italy and many nieces , nephews, and cousins both in Italy and California,She had been a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish in Oakland California since 1939, considering the members of her parish with whom she shared Mass her family. Louise was also a member of the Catholic Ladies Aid Society , Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the Italian Catholic Federation #40.Her family would like to thank her caregivers Zeny, Pat and Memorial Hospice for their loving care. Donations can be made to Memorial Hospice in Santa Rosa California.Visitation will be Sunday March 11, 2012 between 4-8 with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM at Chapel of the Chimes 4499 Piedmont Avenue Oakland, California, The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday March 12 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church 4025 Martin Luther King Way Oakland, CA. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery also in Oakland.
