Pete was a very unique and intelligent man. He was always ready to tell a story, share a thought, or engage you with thoughtful and thought provoking conversation. He was easy going, well read and always good company to be around. Without any doubt, this is one person that will be missed greatly. We would like to extend our deepest simpathies to Pete's family and say that it was our distinct priviledge and pleasure to have known him and been friends with him. Going to the St. Louis airport in a blizzard with Dad (Dr. John Middleton)to pick up Pete for Christmas. Nanette and the girls drove to Missouri and Pete flew in – of course in the worst snow storm we had seen in years! We waited and waited and waited for him. Without cell phones (back in the dark ages) we had no way of contacting him. We called Louisiana to see if anyone had heard from him – and they hadn't so we kept driving around the pick up area looking for him. Finally, we figured out that he was at the departing flights level instead of the incoming flights level of the airport (or vice-versa) and had also been looking all over the airport for us! Needless to say, it was a lively ride to Louisiana from the airport!That's been at least 25 years ago and the only time I remember Pete and his family coming to Missouri for Christmas, but it was definitely a fun holiday!
