Louis made his transition on February 8, 2007. As a very young man, Louis joined the United States Army and trained in telecommunications. He served in Japan during the Korean War. After his tour of duty, he continued his education, training in computer sciences. He became a computer specialist and was highly respected for his sharp analytical skills, programming speed and expertise. He worked at the Oakland Army Base for more than twenty years and was awarded many honors for excellence. He retired in 1993. In 1969 , Louis married Charlena Mitchell and embraced her three young children. For many years, while he continued his career in the computer industry, he and his wife, Charlena, owned and operated an antique shop on Bancroft Avenue in Oakland. He enjoyed going to auctions and taking early morning garage sale expeditions to pick up treasures for the shop. For several years Louis was an evening instructor at Contra Costa College where he taught “ Introduction To Computers.” In addition, he found time to garden, planting vegetables, fruits and beautiful roses. He loved to garden and this love was not diminished by his extended illness. He was determined to have a Crape Myrtle tree in the front yard and was not satisfied until he had planted one. In the early 1990's, Louis and Charlena joined Lakeside Temple of Practical Christianity, where they practiced their faith and found love and strength. Louis is survived by his loving wife, Charlena; step-daughter, Dauphne Mitchell Ruffner; step-son, Keith D. Mitchel and his wife, Elaine, and stepson, Kevin G.
